Arena Rebuilt: Made With Unity
A solo-developed modern reconstruction of The Elder Scrolls: Arena.
Arena Rebuilt is made with Unity software. Daggerfall Unity inspired the question that started it: “Daggerfall has a Unity port—why doesn’t Arena have a similar modern recreation?”
The first goal is to rebuild the complete original game faithfully with modern controls, modern display support, improved stability, and mod support.
The project is being built by The_Godhead_Dev. This is not a one-prompt or “vibe-coded” release. Generative AI has been used as an engineering assistant within a highly curated, developer-directed process in which systems are reviewed, tested, and refined deliberately.
More than 1,000 hours have gone into reverse engineering, research, testing, tools, reconstruction, and release work, including the past two months of 16-hour development days spent bringing this beta to players.

Arena Rebuilt 0.9.5 · Beta / Pre-release · Updated September 6, 2026
After months of reverse engineering, reconstruction, testing, and world-building, Arena Rebuilt is ready for players to step inside. Create your character, escape the starting dungeon, explore settlements and wilderness, fight enemies, travel, and experience the world of Arena on a modern Windows system.
This is a playable beta, not the finish line. The core game and world are available to explore, but some presentation details remain unfinished and bugs are expected while stabilization, polish, and gameplay-fix passes continue. Your feedback during this first release will help make Arena Rebuilt stronger.
Preparing Arena Rebuilt for public distribution required fully repackaging the project around an engine-only, source-safe architecture. This download does not ship Bethesda-owned game assets or data: the launcher verifies a legitimate original Arena installation and loads or derives the required content locally from the player's own files.
That major packaging transition also introduced some regressions compared with the previous internal build. Features and presentation details that were already working are being carefully reimplemented in the new public-safe architecture and will be restored through later beta updates.
Arena Rebuilt was not “vibe coded.” AI-assisted engineering has supported the work, but the project is developer-directed, extensively curated, tested, and refined. More than 1,000 hours of hands-on development have gone into it, including two months of 16-hour development days leading to this public beta.

The long-term World of Tamriel idea may eventually place the preserved Arena campaign in a continuous Tamriel, but that comes later and does not replace the faithful reconstruction.
