Arena Rebuilt 0.9.9F is available for Windows and Linux. This update adds the Classic Enhanced HUD and works through more of the problems reported in 0.9.9E.
Classic Enhanced HUD
- Added an optional expanded classic HUD with a minimap that follows your position and facing.
- The left-hand pane gives quick access to inventory, magic, and favorites without opening the full menus.
- Use the keyboard Left/Right arrows to switch tabs, Up/Down to choose an entry, and Enter to equip or use an item, or ready a spell.
- Items and spells can be marked as favorites from their menus. Favorites are stored with your character.
- Added keyboard menu navigation alongside mouse and controller controls.
Display and world presentation
- Corrected field-of-view scaling and first-person weapon placement.
- Reduced blur in the original-resolution borderless modes with crisp scaling of the game view.
- Adjusted sign filtering, including the fallback loading path, without changing the filtering of text or the interface.
- Corrected the size of the wizard in Mages Guild interiors throughout the animation.
- Restored the world map to its full display area and removed the extra instruction box below it.
Fog
- Reworked city fog so it is visible in the streets as well as at the horizon.
- Morrowind uses dark grey ash fog, including when it snows. Other settlements get white fog only while snow is actively falling, not merely because there is snow on the ground.
- Added a separate sky-haze layer behind the distant scenery, keeping landmarks such as Red Mountain visible.
- Softened the hard cutoff at the top of Red Mountain's smoke. Snowy cities use the same backdrop-blending strength as Morrowind.
Bows and services
- Restored the original bow frames and visible arrows, with projectile collision, hit resolution, reload timing, and weapon wear connected to normal combat.
- Corrected which items appear in the repair menu, repair quotes, item handling during repairs, and charge restoration where applicable.
- Fixed the Detect Magic service menu and its item-selection and payment flow.
- Corrected shop and service messages, bargaining feedback, repair collection text, and confirmation when selling equipped items.
- Long service messages now wrap instead of overlapping or being cut off.
Sound and messages
- Creature voices now follow their owners in the world, so their direction matches the creature's position.
- Sound effects can overlap instead of cutting one another off.
- Reduced rapid music switching at the edge of combat while preserving immediate music changes between locations.
- Replaced internal identifiers in inspection and service feedback with readable enemy, item, building, and service names.
- Corrected status and door messages, including unlocked doors being mistaken for locked ones.
Both downloads include the same gameplay changes. This is still a beta; please report any remaining problems with your location and the steps that reproduce them.
