Arena Rebuilt 0.9.9b is available for Windows and Linux. This update focuses on the problems reported during the last round of beta testing.
Menus and character screens
- Corrected the inventory armor ratings, including the incorrect numbers shown without armor equipped.
- Fixed female clothing colors on the character screen.
- Cut down repeated texture loading and unnecessary drawing when opening inventory and pause menus.
- Realigned pause-menu buttons and the sound and music volume numbers.
- Kept the original-resolution 4:3 display behavior.
Sound and dungeon feedback
- Tied monster calls to the creatures making them, with distance affecting their volume.
- Stopped living-creature sounds when an enemy dies or leaves the area. Death sounds replace the living call rather than playing later from a queue.
- Fixed yellow dungeon descriptions remaining on screen indefinitely.
- Fixed a startup map-binding mismatch introduced during the story-dungeon encounter correction.
Dungeons and inns
- Removed ordinary wandering spawns from the starting dungeon and fixed story dungeons. Rest encounters remain, and random dungeons retain their normal encounters.
- Corrected tavern table transparency and face selection. Tabletops stay visible; the underside at floor level no longer overlaps the floor.
- Added clearance checks to reduce getting pushed into furniture or low ceilings when stepping onto raised surfaces.
- Fixed inn patrons repeatedly using the same occupation.
Both downloads contain the same gameplay changes. Existing save locations and the launcher-first startup process are unchanged.
This is still a beta. Please keep reporting problems with the location and the steps that caused them, especially any remaining collision or sound issues.
